What changes this estimate

The starting point matters: do you need us to write new pages, edit copy you already have, or move approved content into a new website? Each involves different work. Before choosing quantities, describe what is available, what needs to change and who the pages need to help. The estimator keeps those choices together for review.

Describe a representative delivery

Bring a page that represents the work: an existing service page to improve, a draft to edit or source notes for a new page. Include the page count, expected word count range, languages and any interviews needed. Tell us who can check the facts and approve the copy, especially where the subject needs industry knowledge. Quantities describe the work requested; they do not promise how long each unit will take.

For example, a service page with accurate supplied copy may need editing and migration. A new page based on scattered notes may also need an interview and drafting. Even if the finished pages have similar word counts, their preparation differs. Use the first-delivery option to describe a useful starting point, then list the material, reviews and checks needed for the wider programme. Selecting a plan does not establish an approved fixed price.

Prepare a content inventory and editorial schedule

Use the content worksheet to give each item an audience, a purpose, source material and a person responsible for approval. For a service page, that purpose might be helping a prospective customer understand what is included and decide whether to enquire. Mark which copy can be reused, which needs editing and which must be written from scratch. Word count describes the intended output; it cannot establish effort on its own.

Record interviews, subject complexity, languages and revision expectations. Leave time in the schedule for your team to check facts and respond to drafts as well as for us to write. Agree on the delivery format, review rounds and who will publish the copy before a fixed allowance is approved.

SEO research and technical implementation remain separate unless expressly selected. Translation providers, external writers and other supplier charges may also apply, so identify those needs alongside the writing work.

Hours, costs and assumptions

Confirmed labour is calculated at R850 per hour excluding VAT. Each selected quantity is multiplied by an approved hours-per-unit value. Base, discovery and complexity allowances need their own approval. Unapproved items remain Custom quote required and prevent a fixed total; they are never silently priced as zero.

The initial ten-hour website allocation is specific to the existing website calculator. It is not automatically applied to this service. Where managed dedicated hosting is selected, the separately stated management allocation applies to the agreed management scope.

Once-off work and monthly commitments are shown independently. Content writing, SEO, subscriptions, platform usage, travel and other external charges are included only when explicitly approved and itemised. International display currency does not change the authoritative ZAR calculation or establish a tax exemption.

Scope boundaries

  • Translation agency charges and external writers may have supplier costs separate from R850 labour.
  • Do not estimate pages from word count alone without approved productivity assumptions.
  • Set revision allowance explicitly.

Why does this tool show custom quote required?
The commercial rate is confirmed, but a selected activity may not yet have approved unit hours or supplier charges. The tool retains the scope and identifies pending items instead of producing an incomplete fixed price. A reviewed proposal establishes those amounts.
Is the result a binding quotation?
No. The scope and any known charges are indicative until reviewed and confirmed in writing. An issued PDF uses server-side calculation and identifies pending items, exclusions, tax treatment and custom payment terms.
