Scope & pricing

Digital Project Discovery & Technical Scoping Estimator

Offer paid discovery when requirements are too uncertain for fixed build pricing. Configure scope and review confirmed labour at R850/hour excl. VAT, with unpriced items identified.

Configure your scope

Build a scope you can discuss.

R850/hour excluding VAT. Unapproved hours and fees require custom quotation. Your selections are indicative.

What changes this estimate

If you know what needs to improve but cannot yet describe the build, paid discovery can help answer the questions holding up an estimate. Start with your existing systems, the result you need and what you still need to find out. We can then discuss which workshops, investigations or outputs belong in the discovery scope.

Choose quantities around those questions. An integration feasibility review and a phased specification answer different needs; selecting both should have a clear purpose. Keep discovery, implementation, verification and ongoing operation separate so you can see which work you are asking us to price.

Describe a representative delivery

Bring one real example of the task you want to improve, along with your project goals, the people involved and the current systems or integrations. A sample record, an existing workflow or a description of where staff get stuck can make the question easier to investigate. Identify who can provide system access and who can approve the proposed result.

Use the first-delivery option to describe a practical starting point. For a broader programme, list dependencies and how each proposed result will be checked separately. Quantities describe activities or units of work; they do not promise an approved duration for each unit. Selecting a plan does not establish a fixed price.

Define the decision and discovery outputs

Discovery is useful when an unanswered question could change the architecture, migration, access requirements or amount of implementation work. Tell us what decision you need to make at the end. That helps us choose the evidence to gather and bring the right people into a workshop.

For example, before estimating a connection between a website and an existing business system, we might need to establish which data must move, what access is available and what should happen when a record cannot be transferred. An integration feasibility review could address those questions. A prototype may be useful if the uncertainty concerns how someone will use the proposed workflow. These are possible discovery choices, not included deliverables.

Agree which outputs you need: an integration feasibility review, data model, prototype or phased specification. At the end, the findings should show what has been confirmed, which dependencies remain unresolved and what decision comes next. Discovery has its own approved effort; the website minimum is not automatically applied. The findings may support a smaller intervention or a different approach instead of a full rebuild.

Hours, costs and assumptions

Confirmed labour is calculated at R850 per hour excluding VAT. Each selected quantity is multiplied by an approved hours-per-unit value, then the confirmed hours are priced at that rate. Adding another workshop or output changes the estimate only once its hours are approved. Base, discovery and complexity allowances need their own approval. Unapproved items remain Custom quote required and prevent a fixed total; they are never silently priced as zero.

The initial ten-hour website allocation is specific to the existing website calculator. It is not automatically applied to this service. Where managed dedicated hosting is selected, the separately stated management allocation applies to the agreed management scope.

Once-off work and monthly commitments are shown independently. Content writing, SEO, subscriptions, platform usage, travel and other external charges are included only when explicitly approved and itemised. International display currency does not change the authoritative ZAR calculation or establish a tax exemption.

Scope boundaries

  • We cannot guarantee implementation cost before discovery establishes the scope.
  • Agree discovery deliverables you can use even if you choose not to proceed with implementation.
  • Any credit of discovery fees against implementation remains an unapproved policy; do not assume it is included.

Use the plan to request an estimate

A few useful answers before you decide.

Use the tool to outline your discovery deliverables and the decisions they need to support. Before requesting a quotation, check that the selected activities address your main questions, identify any access or other dependencies, and review the amounts still awaiting approval. Your contact details stay separate from saved session selections. Payment milestones and quote validity require written confirmation.

Explore the related service or compare the original website calculator. The PDF request becomes available only when the secure quotation backend is configured; the page clearly indicates its current state.

Why does this tool show custom quote required?
The commercial rate is confirmed, but a selected activity may not yet have approved unit hours or supplier charges. The tool retains the scope and identifies pending items instead of producing an incomplete fixed price. A reviewed proposal establishes those amounts.
Is the result a binding quotation?
No. The scope and any known charges are indicative until reviewed and confirmed in writing. An issued PDF uses server-side calculation and identifies pending items, exclusions, tax treatment and custom payment terms.
