When your website feels slow or becomes difficult to update, choosing a new host or CMS can seem like the obvious next step. We first look at where the time and effort go: oversized assets, dependencies, database work, hosting limits and external requests can each need a different fix.

Our infrastructure modernisation work can include performance auditing, CMS optimisation, hosting architecture, CDN delivery, database performance, caching, dependency reduction, technical SEO, security hardening and monitoring. You receive a prioritised plan based on the current environment, with a reason for each proposed change and a way to check whether it helped.

Diagnose representative journeys

Start with the pages and tasks that matter to your business. That might mean a visitor opening a service page and sending an enquiry, or an editor publishing an update. Bring examples of slow pages, failed tasks and any recurring errors; these give the investigation a useful starting point.

We define the device profile, network conditions, cache state and test environment, then combine controlled measurements with available operating evidence. A single score cannot explain whether an enquiry form works or whether staff can publish reliably.

The technical inventory also checks what each plugin, integration and scheduled process does, and who uses it. An apparently unused dependency may still send form submissions or support a customer account journey. Understanding that responsibility comes before removing it.

Plan application and delivery changes together

The choice between application changes and more hosting capacity depends on the workload. We look at the work the site is doing before proposing a larger server. Database changes need representative queries and a migration that can be recovered if something goes wrong.

For example, a site might have public service pages, an enquiry form and a signed-in account area. A caching or CDN plan should distinguish those uses: which public resources can be reused, which responses contain personal information, and which tasks need fresh data. Testing only the public homepage would leave important questions unanswered.

Technical SEO checks cover stable destinations, canonical URLs, crawlability and structured data that accurately represents the page. Where security hardening is included, we define what will be assessed. That work does not constitute certification or a promise that all vulnerabilities have been eliminated.

Implement, verify and hand over

Before release, we agree the order of changes, the access needed and the point at which a rollback would be appropriate. After implementation, we repeat the selected journeys, including forms and external data connections. Keeping the test conditions alongside the results makes the comparison useful.

Ongoing care needs a clear home too. Someone needs to review failures, apply updates and investigate a regression. We can scope monitoring and maintenance separately from the initial improvements, so you know which responsibilities remain with your team and which are included in the engagement.

Choose the first intervention

A few useful answers before you decide.

The first step may be a targeted asset change, dependency cleanup, revised infrastructure or a phased migration. Share the affected journey, its business impact and the access available for diagnosis. We can then propose an assessment that connects the likely work to evidence and practical checks.

If your team is considering a rebuild, the assessment can also help identify content and working behaviour worth keeping. That gives you a clearer basis for deciding how much needs to change.

Does modernisation always mean rebuilding the website?
No. We assess what can be retained and what causes the constraint. A focused improvement may be enough, allowing you to keep useful content, familiar publishing tools and working application behaviour. Where a migration is appropriate, the findings help define its scope.
Do you guarantee a particular PageSpeed score?
No universal score or uptime improvement is advertised. Test conditions and third-party dependencies vary. We agree representative measurements and the changes within scope, then compare the results under documented conditions so you can see what changed.
